Newsletter Railway Heritage Preservation Conference

NEWSLETTER 06 of January 20, 2025

The documentation volume on the specialist conference on Railway Heritage Preservation which took place from 23 to 25 June 2022 at ETH Zurich has been published by Schwabe Basel-Berlin. (https://schwabe.ch). On some 450 pages of richly illustrated articles, 50 international authors provide an overview of current topics and challenges in railway heritage conservation. The focus is on the questions of how the important cultural heritage of the railways and its monument-specific characteristics can be documented, safeguarded for future generations and simultaneously adapted or repurposed to meet the constantly changing requirements of a railway system which remains in operation. Existing World Heritage railways and the Wachau Railway as a cultural monument of a World Heritage region are also presented in a separate chapter.

The book can be ordered directly from Schwabe Publishing.
